Roland TD-3 electronic drum

by Aaren San

Hi folks & freaks,

I have bought the Roland TD-3 drum set and I’m very proud of it. I decided to buy such a real-feeling drum because I got sick of playing drum patterns with my synthesizers. Ok and it’s a special feeling about that hehehe I love playing drums!!

I bought the e-drum with the necessary rack and chair. Additionally I’m using wood drumsticks – but you can use all drumsticks you like. It is very important to setup the e-drum as described in the manuals and after that hell yeahhh it’s ready to go!!!

Samples:
The drum samples are really great especially the natural drum sounds. If you never played a drum before then it is indeed a very special feeling while playing the 909 drum sounds manually and not with the synthesizers keys!!! A few years ago I had a Roland drumcomputer and I was really impressed of the samples they used – so now I can say the samples are really perfect.

Technique:
First I wondered why I only have two crash elements and thought “ohh crap this is not good, this will destroy my drum feeling” – but after my first testing I recognized that the crash elements and most of the other things like the snare or the hihat can be used as a kind of double setup. That means I have one crash element but I can setup this element with two different sounds, my first WOOOOW ;) really great thing – snare, HiHat, ride, crash can be setup with two different sounds. My second WOOOOW was the experience that I can stop the crash by grabbing it with my hand – the sound stops – awesome!!

Overall:
Recapitulatory I can say that the TD-3 is very solid and if you put it onto a carpet it will not move anywhere, because of the metal spikes and rubber elements on the rack. Ok maybe it’s a little bit to compact but in that case it will not take much space in the room ;) )

My best decision – my recommandation
